Solyem and the entire Zhongding Group have been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal. A significant recognition that places our factories in the top 25% of the most performing companies in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This success demonstrates/proves/shows our commitment to sustainable and ethical practices, with a clear objective : win the gold medal.

CSR : An imperative for a sustainable future

In a world where expectations for environmental and social responsibility are increasing, CSR is essential to ensure a sustainable growth. At Solyem, we strongly believe that sustainability is not just a trend but a shared responsibility.

What is the EcoVadis certification ?

Created in 2007, the EcoVadis certification is now a worldwide standard that assesses the CSR performance of more than 130 000 companies in 180 countries. Through its platform, this organisation aims to assist companies in the integration of responsible practices throughout their supply chain. This evaluation enables companies to measure their progress and establish a clear framework for constant improvement.

This process is based on 21 criteria, divided into four key areas – environment, human and social rights, ethics, and responsible purchasing. The assessment is based on international sustainable development standards such as the United Nations Global Compact, International Labour Organisation conventions, ISO 26000 and many others. For each topic, the company’s policies, measures and indicators are analysed and the company receives a rating between 0 and 100. There are 4 different levels :

  • Bronze (top 50%) : overall score between 50 and 58
  • Silver (top 25%) : overall score between 59 and 69
  • Gold (top 5%) : overall score between 70 and 77
  • Platinum (top 1%) : overall score between 78 and 100

The Silver Medal : A recognition of our CSR efforts

Almost a year ago, we had the honour of receiving the EcoVadis Silver Medal through the Zongding Group. This reflects our daily efforts to integrate sustainable practices with all stakeholders and throughout our entire value chain.

Quote from the CSR Manager and Director of Human Resources : « This medal rewards a corporate culture established several years ago within Solyem. It gives visibility to all the actions we have taken and encourages us to pursue our commitment to corporate social responsibility. »

More than just an objective, CSR is a key element of our business strategy. By organizing our approach around key topics, we have taken a number of steps to improve our practices :

  • Creation of staff representative councils/boards to improve working conditions
  • On-site and off-site waste water treatment to limit our environmental impact
  • Training program to raise/heighten awareness and empower our teams.

These initiatives strengthen our vision and have been approved/validated by EcoVadis

The next step : Winning the Gold Medal

Although this silver medal represents a great success, it is only one step. Our aim/goal/objective/target/ambition is to attain the Gold Medal and join the top 5% of companies in terms of CSR performance. To achieve this/To this end, we will increase/intensify our actions and adjust our strategy based on the recommendations of EcoVadis. One of our priorities will be to improve the training of our teams, regarding sustainable development. This commitment is a central criterion in all our decisions to ensure that our practices are in line with our values.
